The Series 7 and SE models of the regular Apple Watch are compatible with the Nike edition. Although the Nike watches have the exact specifications as the standard models, they have a few unique features that make them a desirable option for people who want to use their watch for sports, especially running.
Not just is the Series 7 our own usual choice for the casual Apple Watch, but it likewise tops our list of casual smartwatches. What actually can the Nike edition add, then?
Thanks to its modular design, you can modify the Apple Watch to fit the situation. You can transition from a casual to a sporty to a high fashion look by switching the strap and watch face. There is no need to buy a different Apple Watch model for various uses because this is true of every model in the line. Select a new watch face from the app, then choose a strap from the many choices available.
I typically have two or three watch face options saved in my favorites at any time, and when I need to dress up a bit, I switch out my sports band for a Milanese Loop.
Our Apple Watch Series 7 review includes a detailed breakdown of all the essential features, so I’ll concentrate on the features that set the Nike Series 7 apart here and explain why anyone might or might not want to choose it.
The Nike edition of the Apple Watch Series 7 went on sale in October 2021, the same month that the standard Series 7 model went on sale. The cost of the Apple Watch Nike models is the same as the regular Apple Watch Series 7, in contrast to the Hermès line. With an additional £100/$100/AU$150 for the cellular version, this starts at £369/$399/AU$599 for the 41mm and £399/$429/AU$649 for the 45mm. Only the Apple store offers the Nike edition.
The Nike Series 7 has the same appearance and texture as the standard Series 7 model. Size, shape, and weight are all the same. The Nike swoosh logo on the back of the watch is the only physical difference between the watch’s 41mm and 45mm versions.
The case is available in black (midnight) or silver (starlight) aluminum. For the Nike model, there are no options for green, blue, or Product(RED), nor is there a way to upgrade to titanium or stainless steel casings.
Nike edition Design
The Nike Series 7 offers two straps: a Nike sports band or a sports loop. The Nike sports band is quite similar to the standard sports band but has ventilation holes. This will prevent the skin beneath the band from becoming sweaty when you exercise. The band is available in five hues: Pure Platinum/Black, Olive Gray/Cargo Khaki, Midnight Navy/Mystic Navy, Anthracite/Black, and Pink Oxford/Rose Whisper. For working out, this band is unquestionably superior to the standard one, and the drilled holes provide a wider variety of wrist widths if you need to tighten the band.
The Nike sports loop prints with the word “Nike” and the Swoosh on the exterior, unlike the sports band, which has a modest Nike swoosh and Apple Watch logo inside the band; it is coming in Summit White, Cargo Khaki, and Black. In addition, there is a Pride edition that is white with rainbow pinstripes rather than the Nike logo. Even when not exercising, the sports loop is quite comfortable, and the hook and loop fastening allows you to securely secure it to your wrist to ensure a reliable heart rate reading.
The only component of this watch that is exclusive to it is the watch faces; straps can be purchased separately. The New Nike Bounce watch face is included with the Apple Watch Nike Series 7. The digital numbers on the screen seem to jiggle as you move your wrist (or touch it). The Nike swoosh at the bottom, which is customizable in terms of color, links directly to the Nike Run Club app when clicked.
Four different Nike watch faces can be offered: Nike Digital, which combines a large digital clock with three main widgets, Nike Hybrid, which is a branded version of the Color face; and Nike Compact, which is a combination of widgets similar to the Modular compact face but with the Nike branding. The Nike Run Club, Activity, and Workout widgets are present by default, but the last two can be modified.
The Nike Bounce watch face is something I like. It’s very easy to read, and the styling is excellent. The Nike edition may only be worthwhile for this reason, but it’s probably worth it.
